As President and Chairman of Crest Investment Company, Jamal has over thirty years of experience in oil, gas and telecommunications, high technology, media, manufacturing and real estate. In 2012, he founded Al-Monitor, an American news website focused on in-depth coverage of and fresh perspectives from the Middle East. Jamal also founded The Levant Foundation. In 2011 he established the Jamal Daniel Fund for the study of the Levant at the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. Jamal was born in Tartous, Syria and spent his childhood in Lebanon. He and his family then moved to Geneva, Switzerland where he attended the University of Geneva. He then obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Pepperdine University, and an MBA from the Business School of the University of Texas in Austin.
