John Milton Ferri is a passionate musician, explorer, engaged global citizen, and aspiring Renaissance man. An18-year-old vocalist from Fairfax, Virginia, John has participated in choir since eighth grade, taking advantage of opportunities to sing as a chorister and soloist in various groups and settings, including Oakton High School’s Madrigals, Jazz Choir, a cappella groups, and numerous district, state, regional and national honors choirs.
John has also enjoyed playing musical theater roles including Teen Angel in Grease. He participated in the Bel Canto Institute in Florence, Italy, this past summer, and attended The Virginia Governor’s School for the Visual and Performing Arts the previous summer. John shares his passion for music by volunteering with Bridges, an intensive music education program for underserved youth in Vienna, VA.
John’s Italian heritage (his father is originally from Florence) sparked his interest in Italian culture, language and music. He has also studied French throughout high school, and plans to attain fluency in both French and Italian by the end of his undergraduate studies. In college, John intends to major in Music Research and International Relations and hopes to pursue a career incorporating Cultural Diplomacy. In his free time, John enjoys being with friends and family, reading, and watching American, Italian and French movies.
