Checking In
- Before arriving to the house please take time to read the Resident Handbook. Check-in time is 3pm on your scheduled date of arrival. If you arrive earlier than 3pm, your room may not be ready. If you arrive after your scheduled move-in date, you can arrive at any time of the day.
- Our front desk is manned 24 hours a day. When you arrive there will be a packet for you to pick up with your keys and door combination.
- Please read and sign the “Resident Conduct and Financial Responsibility Agreement” located in your packet.
- Please leave this form with the attendant at the front desk.
- If you arrive during Business hours, stop by the office to have your picture taken, pay your fist bill and meet with the Resident Managers.
- If you arrive after hours please make arrangements to take care of these items within the next 48 hours.
- You will also find valuable House information in your packet, along with the daily Meal Schedule.

ISH is located in Dupont Circle, near to the Dupont Circle Metro Stop in downtown Washington.
From Reagan National Airport (DCA)
Metro
There is a metro station connected to the terminal. Take the Yellow Line north (direction Gallery Place), detrain at Gallery Place and transfer to the Red Line west (direction Shady Grove). Get off at the Dupont Circle stop (Q Street North Exit), cross over Connecticut Avenue to 19th Street (about 1 block), turn left on 19th Street to R Street, turn right on R Street, and proceed to 1825 R Street (ISH).
Taxi
Taxis are a $15-20, twenty-minute ride (depends on time of day and amount of luggage).
Shuttle
Since taxis are affordable, we recommend them over the shuttle from the Reagan National Airport.
From Washington Dulles Airport (IAD)
Public Transportation
There is no direct link between Dulles and Downtown DC. Metrobus serves Dulles Airport, operating between L’Enfant Plaza station and Dulles, with a stop at the Rosslyn station. See Metro’s 5A timetable. Full fare for a one-way trip is $2. We suggest you take the 5A bus to Rosslyn, take the Orange Line east to Metro Center (Direction New Carrollton) and transfer on to the Red Line west (direction Shady Grove). Get off at the Dupont Circle stop (Q Street North Exit), cross over Connecticut Avenue to 19th Street (about 1 block), turn left on 19th Street to R Street, turn right on R Street, and proceed to 1825 R Street (ISH).
Washington Flyer Coach
The Washington Flyer Coach will take you to the West Falls Church Metro Station for $8 one way (and $14 round trip). Tickets for the Flyer Coach can be purchased at the ticket counter located inside the vestibule of Door 4 located on the Arrivals/ Baggage claim level. You can board the coach at Dulles from the Main Terminal at Door 4 located on the arrivals level. From West Falls Church take the Orange Line east to Metro Center (Direction New Carrollton) and transfer on to the Red Line west (direction Shady Grove). Washington Flyer Taxi
Washington Flyer Taxicabs are available from Dulles International Airport with 24-hour service to and from the airport. Taxicabs accept American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard, Discover Card, and Visa, and provide transportation at metered rates to any destination in metropolitan Washington. Approximate one-way fares to Washington, DC, range from $44 to $50. Please check for fare details. No reservation is required for service from Dulles. For a fare quote or to place a reservation for service to Dulles, please contact Washington Flyer Taxi on 1-703-661-6655. The Washington Flyer Taxis are available on East and West ramps on the lower level of the Main Terminal.
Super Shuttle
Super Shuttle’s door-to-door shared ride van service is available to the Flyer Coach stops, as well as Union Station. Super Shuttle stops are clearly identified on the Ground Transportation Level roadway outside the Main Terminal at Dulles. Shuttles operate on an on-demand basis. From Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI)
Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority
The Washington Metro offers BWI Express Metro bus service between BWI and the Greenbelt metro station. The BWI Express/B30 service runs every 40 minutes, 7 days a week. There are two WMATA Bus Stops. One is located on the lower level of the International Pier and the other stop is located on the lower level of Concourse A/B. The B30 will pick you up outside at the bus shelter. Follow the signs that say “Public Transit”. From the Greenbelt Metro Station take Green Line (direction of Branch Avenue), disembark at Fort Totten Metro Station and transfer to the Red Line (Direction Shady Grove) to the Dupont Circle stop. Super Shuttle
Super Shuttle stops are clearly identified on the Ground Transportation Level roadway. Alternately you can call 1-800- 258-3826 to check exact fares from BWI. Please note that fares may vary depending on the amount of luggage you have. The trip takes about an hour and this will drop you off directly at ISH (1825 R Street NW).
Amtrak
Amtrak trains provide service to the BWI Rail Station, where free shuttles serve the airport terminal. To contact the BWI Rail Station, please call 410-672-6169. For Amtrak schedules and information call 1-800-USA-RAIL (1-800-872-7245) or go to www.amtrak.com.
MARC trainsMARC is the Maryland commuter train line. They are significantly cheaper than Amtrak trains, but run on a limited schedule. For more information s call 1-800-325-RAIL or go to www.mtamaryland.com.
Taxi
$60-70 for the one-hour trip. The BWI taxi stand is located just outside of the baggage claim area of the Lower Level of the BWI Airport Terminal. For more information, call 410-859-1100 or visit www.BWIAirportTaxi.com
From the Greyhound Bus Station
Metro
The Greyhound Bus station is located a few blocks from the Union Station Metro stop. Take the Red Line (direction Shady Grove). Get off at the Dupont Circle stop (Q Street North Exit), cross over Connecticut Avenue to 19th Street (about 1 block), turn left on 19th Street to R Street, turn right on R Street, and proceed to 1825 R Street (ISH). Please note that we do not consider it safe to walk from the Greyhound bus station to Union Station after dark.
Taxi
A cab ride to ISH usually costs less than $10 depending on time of day and amount of luggage. As there are unauthorized drivers that may approach you in the station, bypass them and hail a taxi from a valid company out front.
