Emerging Artist Series Event with Luke Alexander Ratcliffe
Tuesday, November 11th from 7pm-8pm in the Great Hall
Luke Alexander Ratcliffe is a 17-year old pianist from Sterling, Virginia. Luke has been the First Place Winner for the state of Virginia in the MTNA Senior Piano Competition for the last two years. Additionally, he was a National Winner with the YoungArts Foundation, an organization created to identify and support the next generation of talented young artists. He has placed first in numerous music competitions, including the Friday Morning Music Club, Elizabeth R. Davis, Miriam Shields Gottlieb, and the NVMTA Achievement Awards competitions. Luke has also been a prize winner internationally with the International Institute of Young Musicians and Atlantic Music Festival piano concerto competitions. In addition to solo performance, Luke has enjoyed performing collaboratively with chamber music partners at the Levine School of Music, and as the pianist for the American Youth Orchestra. Both of these opportunities enabled him to perform numerous times on the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage and at the Center for Performing Arts at George Mason University. Luke currently studies with Dr. Marjorie Lee. Next year he plans to attend a music conservatory where he will further his studies. When he’s not playing music or listening to music, Luke enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading, and studying philosophy and theology.
