Ella Burling Hall is a magnificent 27 by 47 foot drawing room that is still furnished with the museum quality Elizabethan and European antiques that remain from when it was a private home. The furnishings are used as focal points for receptions and catering to provide warmth, elegance and intimacy to your event. Arranged as a drawing room, a few people or group up to 30 can sit informally around the fireplace. Just as easily, the Hall can accommodate a large reception while retaining the charm and intimacy of the room. The Hall can also be arranged to host workshops, seminars, concerts and lectures.
The carved oak paneled Gallery with oriental carpets and old brass samovars welcomes guests to Ella Burling Hall and provides additional space for receptions of up to 85 guests. Enter our garden through the art glass doors of our reception area and you will be surrounded by large magnolia trees and a garden that provides a respite from urban life. The garden can be rented alone for receptions, ceremonies and concerts or used in conjunction with Ella Burling Hall and the Gallery.
A Yamaha "Conservatory" model piano is available for musical events or when live music is called for. The piano is tuned regularly and often musically talented residents are available to entertain during an event.
Our Chef can help plan a catering menu designed to meet your food interests and budget. All of our staff are committed to helping you have a memorable event that achieves your objectives. Click on the buttons to the left for information on having your event at International Student House.
